New here? Start from Week 1 and follow the journey — from an overgrown farm with nothing in place, to livestock, buildings, and something approaching a working smallholding. Updated as new episodes are published.
September 2025 — The Beginning
Week 18
Rain, Power & PalletsThe farm’s first proper wet weekend. Windows that aren’t windowy, gutters that don’t gutter, and a ring main that finally gets finished. Plus a visit to meet the piglets — who haven’t arrived yet.
Week 19
Flowing in All the Wrong DirectionsA blocked drain mystery, a septic tank that nobody knew existed, a trip to Tamworth for a Citroën BX windscreen, and thirty metres of fence posts sunk into the ground. Everything hurts.
Week 20
Fencing and TreesGrown-ups with chainsaws arrive to take down the trees threatening the house. The whole farm smells of Christmas. Pig fencing progresses, a gate gets hung, and the Megashed 2.0 gets its first wall.
October 2025 — Building Up
Week 21
All a Bit BlowyStorm Amy arrives and ruins any hope of roofing work. A wall blows away. The mini digger gets new lights, an oil change, and its cylinder guards fixed. Apples are very easy to collect after a storm.
Week 22
WallsThe old carport roof comes down, the Megashed walls go up in a production-line weekend of graft. The same rafter mistake is made twice. A forty-year-old ladder has a near-death experience and survives.
Week 23
RaftersBonnie and Clyde, the kittens, arrive. Pig fencing gets tensioned. The Freelander gets new discs all round. A metal detectorist visits the field. And the Megashed roof rafters begin — until a tarp acts as a sail and everything goes wrong.
Week 24
Pig PrepT-minus one week to piglet arrival. The PigWam is built entirely from recycled materials. Electric fencing goes up with the help of the mother-in-law. A child is selected to test whether the fence is working.
November 2025 — The Piggies Arrive
Week 25
Piggies ArriveThe big one. Four Kunekune piglets — two gilts, two boars, sixteen weeks old — arrive at the farm. Jasper is named despite all advice to the contrary. They settle in well, snore loudly, and already have a waiting list of visitors.
Week 26
Nearly RoofA Citroën BX breaks down in the yard — the best possible place for it to happen. A PTO shaft universal joint is rebuilt. The kittens go outside for the first time. The Megashed roof gets close to water-tight, then runs out of membrane.
Week 27
Getting WarmerRain, rain, and more rain. An expanding foam disaster of biblical proportions. The wall insulation goes in and the shed immediately gets quieter and warmer. Pigs enjoy a pumpkin. Kittens make friends with a pig.
Week 28
The Roof Is OnSub-zero start, heavy rain finish, and somehow the Megashed gets a complete roof. The front sheets go up in 45 minutes. Ridge flashing is installed in freezing rain. Frozen toes and testicles aside, it is weatherproof by midday.
Week 29
Boarding UpThe inside of the Megashed starts to take shape as plasterboarding begins. A mammoth solo effort with borrowed scaffold and a lot of determination.
December 2025 — Racing Christmas
Week 30
All WrappedA short one due to internet woes, but the plasterboarding is finished — alone, with pallet scaffold, on a ceiling. Bonnie claims her first confirmed kill. A plasterer is booked and total panic boarding begins.
Week 31
Getting PlasteredTwo days of plastering across a huge space. The cats discover the eldest’s bedroom. Windows are installed from inside out. The mini digger returns from its sabbatical and is immediately commandeered by a child in a hoodie.
Week 32
The Unexpected Week Off ‘Work’Surprise holiday leave means a full week on the farm. The Megashed gets painted, carpeted, and moved into — all by New Year’s Eve. The cats systematically strip the Christmas tree. A motorbike lesson ends with something significant happening.
Week 33
When Is Bins? The last post of 2025, written from the Betwixt-mas zone. The Megashed gets its final window. A BMW F650 arrives at the farm and is immediately stripped by the boys. Minecraft takes over the newly carpeted shed.
January 2026 — New Year, Same Farm
Week 34
The Start of 2026A local young farmer arrives with a full-size Valtra and transforms years of overgrown hedges in a single day. Then the snow comes — first snow for the cats, the pigs, and the children, all equally unbothered. A fall on ice draws blood.
Weeks 35 & 36 — nothing of note happened. Honestly.
February 2026 — Divided
Week 37
The Great DivideThe boys and girls can no longer live together. A mini digger buries a water pipe, a second PigWam is built from salvage, and the great pig-herding begins — badly, hilariously, and eventually successfully.
